After months of speculation, the release date for Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated film King, directed by Siddharth Anand, has been officially announced.

The producers confirmed that the movie will hit theaters worldwide on December 24, making it one of the biggest Bollywood releases of the year, timed for the holiday season.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting King ever since the title reveal video was released on Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday last year.

The film marks the reunion of Shah Rukh Khan and director Siddharth Anand following their blockbuster Pathaan. Many fans have hailed the title reveal as a tribute to Shah Rukh’s illustrious career; a special birthday gift for his admirers.

The first-look teaser has already created a buzz, showing Shah Rukh wielding a “King of Hearts” card as a weapon, sporting silver hair, signature ear accessories and a bold new style.

The producers promise that King will showcase Shah Rukh Khan in an entirely fresh avatar, featuring a stylish, high-octane action-packed storyline with adrenaline-pumping sequences and full-scale entertainment.

Critics suggest that this may be Siddharth Anand’s most “mass-appealing” film to date, with his signature action direction reaching new heights.

Produced under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, King also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Arshad Warsi. Rani Mukerji is set to appear in a special role.
