JASHORE, Jan 24: For the first time, prisoners will be able to exercise their voting rights in the upcoming 13th parliamentary elections, with 129 inmates at Jashore Central Jail set to cast their votes through postal ballots. The registration process was completed on December 31, confirmed Jailor Abid Ahmed.

After verification, 129 prisoners successfully submitted their applications online.
Jailor Abid Ahmed said that once the postal ballots arrive from the Election Commission, voting will take place inside the prison. Inmates will be provided special booklets with detailed information about the candidates. After voting, the ballot papers will be sealed and sent to the office of the relevant returning officer via the postal department.

Jashore Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Ashek Hasan said the district administration and Election Commission are providing all necessary support to ensure that prisoners can exercise their constitutional right to vote.
