The country exports various types of plastic products worth $2 billion annually. This export volume will increase further if government support is received.
If 15 to 20 percent incentives are provided against the export of plastic products, it will be possible to export more plastic products in the future.
Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BPGMEA) president Shamim Ahmed made these remarks at a press conference titled 18th Bangladesh International Plastic, Packaging and Printing Industrial Fair- 2026 (IPF-26) at the Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BPGMEA)'s own office in the capital on Monday.
IPF-26 Co-0rganised by Yorkers Trade and Marketing Service Co Ltd.
The press conference was attended by Yorkers Trade and Marketing Service Co Ltd overseas director Akai Lin, former presidents of the BPGMEA, directors and entrepreneurs of the plastic industry.
The four-day 18th Bangladesh International Plastic, Packaging and Printing Industrial Fair- 2026 (IPF-26) fair will start tomorrow (Wednesday) January 28. The fair, which started at Dhaka's International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), will continue until Saturday, January 31.
There will be 800 domestic and foreign stalls at the fair. The fair will be open to visitors from 11 am to 7 pm every day.
Representatives from 18 countries including China, India, Italy, Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Korea, Thailand will display their manufactured products, machinery and parts at the fair's stalls.
Shamim Ahmed said. In addition to displaying products at the fair, three seminars have been organized during the fair. These seminars will play a helpful role in creating opportunities for sustainable production, automatic technology, recycled new production, and market innovation for Bangladeshi plastic products in the global market.
He said that various types of machinery, machinery and parts will be displayed at the fair. So that domestic entrepreneurs can produce new plastic products. The demand for products is widespread both at home and abroad.
Regarding waste, he said, "Only 5 percent of the waste generated in the country every day is from plastic products. If the government can digest 95 percent of the waste, then 5 percent of the waste is not that harmful."
