Dhaka courts on Monday issued arrest warrants against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 40 others in connection with two separate murder cases filed during the July protests in Mohammadpur.
The cases involve the killings of truck driver Md. Hossain and CNG auto-rickshaw driver Sabuj.
Metropolitan Magistrate Jamshed Alam accepted the charge sheets submitted in both cases and ordered the warrants, noting that 41 of the 64 accused listed in the police reports are currently absconding.
Prosecutors Harun Or Rashid and Kaiyum Hossain Noyon represented the state during the hearing.
The arrest warrants were specifically issued for those, including Sheikh Hasina, who remain at large.
