Jatiya Chhatra Shakti, Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit has called for the implementation of a new teacher recruitment policy, a review of all decisions made under the old policy and full automation of administrative processes - including digital tracking.

The organization raised these demands at a press conference held at the Central Shaheed Minar premises of the university on Monday afternoon.

JU unit leaders outlined four key demands, emphasizing the need for transparency, efficiency and meritocracy in university administration.

The leaders criticized the administration for failing to implement the automation system as promised.
They said, "Following last year's anti-discrimination student movement on January 20, the administration assured full automation across the university by January 6, 2026."

They added, "In reality, automation has been limited to the library, while the registrar's office, examination controller's department and transport system remain manual-breaking the administration's pledge."

The press conference highlighted that relying on outdated policies for teacher recruitment undermines academic transparency, ethics and quality.

The press conference also highlighted, 2016 policy lacked mandatory demo classes and structured viva examinations, making it difficult to assess candidates' teaching skills and research competence. To address these limitations, a revised recruitment policy was later introduced.

After the conference, JU Unit President Zia Uddin Ayan said, "Following the post-uprising anti-discrimination student movement, we campaigned to implement full automation across Jahangirnagar University." He added, "The administration promised to make the system operational by January 2026. Sadly, they have fulfilled less than one-third of this promise."
