Police have claimed to have solved the mystery behind the murder of a mother and daughter in Chattogram’s Anwara, saying that a relative killed them in an attempt to seize a sworn affidavit document and avoid repaying a debt.
According to police, the suspect had borrowed Tk 117,000 from the victims’ family to purchase an auto-rickshaw.
At a press briefing on Monday, Police Superintendent Md Masud Alam shared the information.
On Saturday night, Sujan Barua’s wife Annie Barua, 40, and their daughter Priyanti Barua, 16, were killed at their own home in Chenamati Barua Para of Ward No. 6 of Paroikora Union.
Police arrested Sujan’s cousin Tejpriyo Barua on Sunday night in connection with the incident.
SP Masud said, “Teju has confessed that he alone was involved in the incident. He had a financial transaction with Sujan Barua. He borrowed Tk 117,000 from Sujan to buy an auto-rickshaw on the condition that he would repay the money in monthly installments with interest.” �"bdnews24
