Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon said the government is working to eliminate session jams in the education sector, enabling students to begin university studies immediately after completing higher secondary education by 2028.

Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of the Primary Education Medal Competition 2026 at the Government Physical Education College ground in Mohammadpur on Monday, the minister said students would no longer have to wait for extended periods after HSC examinations before entering universities.

“From 2028 onwards, students will be able to take admission to universities as soon as their results are published,” he said.

Milon also announced that the results of this year's SSC and equivalent examinations would be published by July 20, while free distribution of school uniforms among students would begin in the last week of June.

Referring to ongoing curriculum reforms, he said revised textbooks would be delivered to all educational institutions by December, ensuring students receive new books at the beginning of the academic year.

“The syllabus and curriculum are being prepared so that there is no need for unnecessary dependence on coaching centres,” he said.

Highlighting the government's broader education vision, the minister said the highest allocation in the national budget had been made for education as part of efforts to transform the country's population into skilled human resources.

“We want a revolutionary change in the education sector,” he said.

Milon stressed that the government does not want students to remain focused solely on examination results.

“We do not want our future generation to spend their lives chasing GPA 5, A Plus or Golden A Plus. We want them to become talented, creative and innovative citizens who learn through participation and experience,” he said.

To support joyful and technology based learning, the minister said the government was planning multimedia classrooms and a “One Teacher, One Tab” initiative.

“A teacher will be able to monitor students' attendance, physical and mental condition and family background through the device and provide more effective learning support,” he said.
