A $506 million in workers' remittance was recorded during the first four days of February 2026, marking a 19.8 per cent rise compared to $422 million in the same period last year.

On February 3-4 alone, inflows totaled $180 million, reflecting steady daily transfers from overseas Bangladeshis.

This early-February surge adds to a strong fiscal year trend. From July 2025 to February 4, 2026, total remittance reached $19.939 billion, up 21.7 per cent from $16.384 billion in the same period of FY2024?25.
Analysts said continued growth is being driven by robust demand for Bangladeshi workers abroad and favorable exchange rates in key remittance-sending countries.

Banks and foreign exchange operators have reported smoother inflows since January, helped by digital transfer channels and extended banking hours. Industry observers noted that sustained remittance growth will support domestic consumption and strengthen the country's foreign exchange reserves.

While the first few days of February show optimism, experts warn that global economic uncertainty and seasonal fluctuations could affect flows later in the month. Still, the early numbers indicate workers' remittances remain a critical backbone of Bangladesh's external earnings and overall economic stability.
