Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus has extended his greetings to the people of the country and Muslims around the world on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, calling on all to uphold the sanctity of the blessed month.
In a message issued on Sunday, Yunus described Ramadan as a time of self-restraint, sacrifice, compassion and spiritual purification.
He said that through fasting, charity and acts of worship, believers have the opportunity to purify their souls, strengthen bonds of compassion and harmony and seek the pleasure, closeness and forgiveness of Almighty Allah.
The chief adviser said the holy month inspires both individuals and the nation to steer clear of injustice, corruption and wrongdoing and to work towards building a society founded on justice and welfare.
Alongside acts of worship, Ramadan also teaches morality and humanity through the practice of truthfulness, justice, integrity and empathy, he said, adding that it awakens a sense of responsibility toward the poor and underprivileged.
Urging the nation to embrace the spirit of the month, Yunus said, “Let us be inspired by the teachings of the holy month of Ramadan, refrain from extravagance, hatred and hostility and devote ourselves to increased worship, recitation of the Holy Quran, prayers, repentance and good deeds to attain the pleasure of Almighty Allah. Let us preserve the sanctity of Ramadan.”
He prayed that Almighty Allah accept the fasting, prayers, charity and all righteous deeds of the people, grant them the ability to apply the lessons of Ramadan in their lives, forgive and protect everyone and bless the country and the nation with peace and prosperity.
