Bangladesh girls earn first victory in U-18 Asia Cup Hockey

Bangladesh's girls' team secured their first victory in U-18 Asia Cup Hockey tournament, defeating Chinese Taipei 2-0 in Japan on Monday.

After suffering a heavy defeat against hosts Japan in their opening match, the girls bounced back with an impressive performance to earn three valuable points.

Kona Akter gave Bangladesh the lead in the 29th minute by converting a penalty corner, helping her side take a 1-0 advantage into the break.

Chinese Taipei pressed hard for an equaliser in the second half but failed to break through Bangladesh's defence.

Bangladesh sealed the victory in the final quarter when Riya found the net from an attacking move, doubling the lead and putting the result beyond doubt.

Tanni was named Player of the Match for her outstanding performance.

Bangladesh will face China in their next match on Tuesday. The boys' team had earlier recorded a victory in the tournament but suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat to China on Sunday.
