70 MPs under surveillance: Tarique Rahman in a purification drive

Prime Minister of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Nationalist Party Chairman Tarique Rahman has launched a ‘performance monitoring mechanism’ since taking the charge
Through this, the performance of ministers and MPs are being regularly evaluated.
No one is exempted if evidence of irregularities or abuse of power is found.
Three ministers and state ministers have already been verbally warned. Top leaders of party organs and associate organizations are also under close observation.
BNP policymakers say that this warning is a lesson from the bitter experience of the past. Tarique Rahman has adopted a zero-tolerance policy to prevent all anti-people activities such as contracting syndicates, lobbying-business, or negligence in development projects. The list of those especially who do not regularly stay in the area or are interfering in the administration unnecessarily is long.
The experience of living abroad in the UK for a long time is working on this accountability model. The PM wants to create a transparent administrative culture in Bangladesh based on the model of the British Parliament’s ‘Question Time’ or ‘Select Committee’.
A special cell has been formed in the Prime Minister’s Office where senior officials including the Financial Advisor and Principal Secretary are directly monitoring the field-level reports.
