Youth’s body found floating in Patuakhali pond

Police recovered a floating body of a youth with his hands and feet tied from a pond at Bauphal upazila in Patuakhali district on Monday noon.

The deceased was identified as Shakil Mridha, 22, son of late Sobahan Mridha, a resident of Mahashraddhi village under Adabaria union in the upazila. Shakil was employed at a bus counter.

According to sources, locals discovered the body floating in a pond and informed police.

Being informed, police reached the spot and recovered the body in a hands and feet tied condition.

It is suspected that the killing may have stemmed from a dispute linked to drug-related activities.

Bauphal Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Siddiqur Rahman confirmed the death and said that the body has been sent to Patuakhali General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death, added the OC.
