On Shaheed Day and International Mother Language Day, leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and its affiliated organizations paid tribute to language martyrs at various locations nationwide.

From early morning to late at night, groups laid wreaths at Shaheed Minars and chanted slogans. However, police in several districts detained and arrested a number of participants.

In Netrokona's Purbadhala upazila, activists laid flowers at three locations, including Jagatmoni Government Pilot High School's Shaheed Minar, as videos of the incidents circulated on social media.

In Satkhira's Kaliganj upazila, activists of banned Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League paid tribute at the central Shaheed Minar in Goyra Bazar, chanting "Joy Bangla."

In Chattogram, a short video showed four leaders of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League city unit standing with flowers and chanting slogans, shared on Facebook by former education minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury.

Clashes with police led to several arrests. In Mymensingh's Phulbaria Upazila, Fatiyar Kabir Bappi, 40, was detained over a wreath-laying confrontation. In Gaibandha, Imarul Islam Shabin and Shahin Chakladar were arrested after a procession at the municipal park chanting "Joy Bangla." In Noakhali's Companiganj Upazila, six people were arrested at Basurhat Bazar while offering flowers.
