BNP Standing Committee member and former minister Selima Rahman has been admitted to a hospital because of heart disease.
The information was shared in a post on the verified Facebook page of the BNP Media Cell on Sunday.
According to the post, Selima Rahman has been suffering from heart disease and has been admitted to United Hospital in the capital. She is now receiving treatment in the hospital's Coronary Care Unit (CCU).
Her family and the BNP have asked people across the country to pray for her quick recovery.
BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam visited her at the hospital.
For the past few days, Selima Rahman had been suffering from fever, body pain, and a lung infection. Later, she felt severe pain in her leg.
After medical tests, doctors found that she had deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which is a blood clot in the veins of the leg. She was then moved to the CCU of a private hospital in the capital.
At first, her physical condition became worse. However, after close monitoring and primary treatment by doctors, her condition is now reported to be somewhat stable.
On Sunday, Dr. Rafiqul Islam visited the hospital to check on her health and discussed her treatment in detail with the doctors. He also met her family members and wished her a speedy recovery.
Her family has again requested people across the country to pray for her quick recovery.
