Advance train tickets for Eid-ul-Fitr travel will go on sale from Mar 3, with all tickets to be sold online, the railway ministry has announced.

Return tickets will be available from Mar 13.

According to railway authorities, advance tickets for Eid journeys will be sold from March 3, while return tickets will be available from March 23.

In line with recent practice and to ensure greater transparency +and convenience, 100 per cent of train tickets will be sold online this year as well to eliminate the need for physical queues at railway stations.

Bangladesh Railway has also finalized a region-wise ticket sales schedule. Tickets for all intercity trains operating in the western zone will be released in the morning hours, while tickets for trains serving the eastern zone will go on sale in the afternoon.

Officials said the staggered timing is intended to reduce pressure on online ticketing system and make the purchasing process more manageable for passengers.

To cope with the anticipated surge in Eid travel, the railway authorities have decided to operate additional special trains. A total of five pairs, equivalent to 20 special Eid trains-will be added to regular schedule during the holiday period.

These special services are expected to help accommodate the increased demand for passengers and ease congestion on major routes.
