Probe report submission in Hadi murder case deferred to March 11

A Dhaka court on Thursday fixed March 11 for the submission of the investigation report in the murder case of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Bin Hadi.

The date was set by Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam after Criminal Investigation Department (CID) failed to submit the probe report within the scheduled time. 

This is the ninth time the report submission has been deferred.

Hadi, an independent candidate from Dhaka-8 constituency, was shot in the capital’s Paltan area on December 12, 2025. He died on 18 December while undergoing treatment in Singapore.

On December 14, Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inqilab Moncho, filed an attempted murder case with Paltan Model Police Station over the attack. Following Hadi’s death, the case was converted into a murder case.

On January 6, Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Faisal Ahmed, the investigation officer, submitted a chargesheet against 17 accused.

However, on January 15, the plaintiff filed a no-confidence (naraji) petition, alleging that the chargesheet had excluded the main planners behind the murder.

Subsequently, the court directed Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over and conduct further investigation into the case.
