Indian Assistant High Commissioner to Sylhet Aniruddha Das has paid a visit to Sri Sri Ramakrishna Seva Ashram in Moulvibazar’s Sreemangal upazila.

Following the visit on Monday, the assistant high commissioner attended a view-exchange meeting as the chief guest, where he praised the institution’s humanitarian and welfare activities.

He said organisations like the Ramakrishna Mission play a vital role in promoting moral values, education and a spirit of service in society.

He also noted that through its service-orientated and humanitarian initiatives, the Ramakrishna Mission has been making significant contributions to fostering communal harmony, expanding education and upholding ethical values. Such institutions, he said, serve as an effective bridge in strengthening the cultural and spiritual ties between Bangladesh and India.

The meeting was chaired by Dr Nibas Chandra Pal, president of the executive committee of Sri Sri Ramakrishna Seva Ashram and conducted by Dipshikha Dhar, vice-president of Sreemangal Sarada Samity.

The Sylhet Indian Assistant High Commission’s second secretary, Rajesh Bhatia, attended the event as a special guest.

In his remarks, he commended the mission’s various welfare activities and expressed hope that the institution would continue its services in the future.

General Secretary of the ashram’s executive committee Nirmalendu Bhattacharya, along with other committee members, was also present at the meeting.

At the end of the programme, Dr Nibas Chandra Pal presented honorary crests to Aniruddha Das and Rajesh Bhatia and honoured them with traditional scarves.

During the visit, the assistant high commissioner toured different facilities of the Ramakrishna Mission and exchanged views with those involved in its activities.
