3 houses gutted in Patuakhali fire

At least three houses belonging to very poor family have been gutted in a devastating fire in Patuakhali's Bauphal upazila. 

The fire broke out at around 11PM on Friday (March 6) in the house of Mridha in Kayna village of Sadar Union of the Upazila. This has caused extensive damage. 

The families of farmer Ruhul, his cousin Farhad and the family of day laborer Motaleb have lost everything and are destitute in the fire. 

However, the exact extent of the damage has not yet been determined.

Sabbir Hossain, warehouse inspector of Bauphal Fire Service and Civil Defense Station, said that a fire Service team reached the spot on receiving information and managed to bring the fire under control. But three houses were burnt down before their arrival. 

Immediate measures were taken to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures. 

An investigation is underway to find out the cause behind the blaze, he added.
