2 electrocuted while installing pole in Kurigram

Two individuals were electrocuted and three others were injured while installing a pole in Kurigram Sadar upazila on Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred at Ghogadah Bazar in Ghogadah union.

The deceased were identified as Mizanur Rahman, a resident of Holokhana union and Umed Ali from Prothom Alo Char area under Ghogadah union.

According to locals, the incident occurred while a lamppost pole was being installed. Due to carelessness, the pole touched a nearby electric wire, leaving five individuals injured.

Later, the injured were rushed to Kurigram General Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared two of them dead. The other three injured persons received primary treatment.

Kurigram Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Jahangir Alam confirmed the incident and said that police have been sent to the scene to investigate the incident.
