President administers oath to new Speaker, Deputy Speaker

President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath to the newly elected Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday.

Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed (Bir Bikram), Minister for Liberation War Affairs, was elected as Speaker, while Barrister Kayser Kamal, MP from  Netrakona-1 (Kalamkanda-Durgapur) and State Minister for Land, was elected as Deputy Speaker.

Prior to this appointment as the speaker, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed was serving as the liberation war affairs minister but resigned from the post on Wednesday (March 11), confirmed Md Akbar Hossain, assistant private secretary to the minister.

Meanwhile, Kayser Kamal had been serving as the state minister for the Ministry of Land.
