Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Sunday formally recognized the Law and Home Ministries for their rapid response in apprehending the suspect in the brutal murder of eight-year-old Ramisa Akter.

The Prime Minister’s remarks came during a Business Advisory Committee meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

According to a statement from the Parliament Secretariat, the premier praised the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister and the Home Minister for their oversight in ensuring the perpetrator was quickly identified and brought under legal custody.

Ramisa Akter, a second-grade student at Popular Model High School in Dhaka’s Pallabi, was the victim of a heartbreaking crime that sparked national outcry.

The Prime Minister noted that the speed of the investigation and the subsequent arrest of the suspect demonstrate the government’s unwavering commitment to the rule of law.

"This swift action reflects our firm stance on maintaining public safety," Tarique Rahman said, expressing his hope that the judicial phase would proceed with equal efficiency to ensure the guilty party faces the full weight of the law.

Reaffirming his administration's "zero tolerance" policy toward violent crime, the Prime Minister urged law enforcement agencies and investigators to maintain this standard of professionalism across all cases.

Members of the committee joined the premier in lauding the ministries for their effective management of the high-profile case.
