The Ambassador of Turkiye to Bangladesh, Ramis Sen, on Thursday paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir and reiterated Ankara’s support for Bangladesh’s bid for the presidency of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) for 2026–2027.
The meeting took place at the prime minister’s office in Tejgaon, according to Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Zahidul Islam Rony.
During the discussion, both sides highlighted the strong and friendly ties between Bangladesh and Turkiye and explored ways to further expand bilateral cooperation. They exchanged views on enhancing collaboration in several key sectors, including trade and investment, defence cooperation, education, cultural exchange, technology and infrastructure development.
The talks also covered a range of regional and global issues, particularly challenges faced by the Muslim world and the importance of strengthening humanitarian cooperation. Both sides underscored the need for continued mutual support on international platforms.
Humayun Kabir and the Turkish envoy expressed optimism that the longstanding friendship and partnership between the two countries would continue to grow in the coming years.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to working together for the welfare of the people of both nations, based on mutual respect, trust and cooperation.
