Newlywed bride, 3 others killed in Bagerhat crash buried in Khulna

Four members of a family, including a bride who was among 14 people killed in a tragic road accident in Rampal upazila of Bagerhat, were buried on Friday in Khulna.

The deceased were identified as bride Marjia Mitu, daughter of Salam Morol from Naksha village in Koyra upazila, her younger sister Lamia, 10, their grandmother Rashida Begum, 75, and maternal grandmother Anowara Begum.

Mitu was a first year student at Naksha Alim Madrasa.

Namaz e Janaza for Mitu, Lamia and Rashida Begum was held around 9:30am on Friday at a field beside their home in Naksha village. 

They were later buried in the family graveyard. Anowara Begum's funeral prayer and burial took place in Dakop upazila.

The fatalities occurred when a bus and a microbus collided head on at Belai Bridge on the Khulna Mongla highway on Thursday. 

The crash left 14 people dead and plunged Naksha village and surrounding areas into mourning.
