To safeguard social decency, uphold the dignity of women, and protect the healthy psychological development of children, Nari Unnayan Shakti (NUS) organized a discussion meeting recently held  at its office in Dhaka with the participation of representatives from several social organizations. During the meeting, participants expressed deep concern over the recent trend of using obscene and degrading slogans referring to the private parts of women or men during various public gatherings and political demonstrations.

The meeting was chaired by Seheli Jahan, President of Nari Unnayan Shakti. In her remarks, she stated that while freedom of expression and the right to protest are fundamental elements of a democratic society, the language used in such expressions must remain respectful, responsible, and humane. She emphasized that using degrading references to women's bodies in slogans is harmful to social values and sends a negative message to future generations.

Dr. Afroja Parvin, Executive Director of Nari Unnayan Shakti, also addressed the meeting. She stated that the use of obscene slogans referring to the private parts of women or men in public spaces is fostering a culture of humiliation and disrespect in society. According to her, such language not only undermines the dignity of women but also has harmful consequences for the psychological development of children. She stressed that such slogans may encourage misogynistic attitudes and contribute to unhealthy social behavior among younger generations.
