Members of the Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) arrested five suspected drug traffickers and seized approximately 390,000 Yaba tablets, valued at around Tk 19.5 crore, in two separate operations conducted from midnight to Friday morning.

Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon, Coast Guard media officer, confirmed the drives in a press statement on Friday.

In the first operation, acting on a tip-off, a Coast Guard team from Teknaf Station learned that a large consignment of Yaba was being transported to Chattogram in a covered van from Shahporir Dwip under Teknaf Police Station.

Around 7:30am, the team stopped a suspected vehicle near Baroitoli, adjacent to the Naf River, and recovered approximately 330,000 Yaba tablets hidden in a specially built chamber beneath the van's floor. One suspected trafficker was detained on the spot.
