Two individuals were killed in a head-on collision between a microbus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Moulvibazar’s Sreemangal upazila on Monday evening.
One of the deceased was identified as Hannan Mia, 35, a driver from Uttar Baraura village, while the identity of the other victim could not be immediately confirmed.
The incident occurred in Sirajnagar area along the Dhaka-Sylhet regional highway.
According to eyewitnesses, the auto-rickshaw overturned after the collision, leaving multiple passengers injured.
Later, locals rescued four injured and took them to Moulvibazar General Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared two of them dead. Another critically injured passenger was later referred to Sylhet for advanced treatment.
Sreemangal Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Zahirul Islam Munna confirmed the incident and said that the bodies have been sent to Moulvibazar General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
