Abducted baby girl rescued after 5hrs, one arrested

Police and Rapid Action Battalion have jointly  rescued a 18-month-old baby girl, who was kidnapped in Bagerhat's Fakirhat upazila on Wednesday morning, after five hours' of breathless drives

The child was rescued from the Kaiabazar area of Khulna at 10 PM on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, a person named Nayan Sheikh, 26,  a neighboring tenant has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the incident. 

The kidnapped child Rafsa is the daughter of Abdur Rashid Khan from Chhota Bahirdia village in Fakirhat upazila.

Fakirhat Model Police Station OC (Investigation) Md Alamgir Hossain said that around 11AM on Wednesday, wife of Nayan took the child from the house and did not return  even after a long time.

Later, it was found that Nayan had gone out with the child. When the child's father contacted Nayan over phone, he demanded ransom. He also threatened to harm the child if the money was not paid. Later, the family informed the police around 4PM. 

RAB-6 Company Commander Major Md Nazmul Islam said that after the incident, taking the matter seriously, a joint operation was conducted with the police. Based on a secret information, the operation was conducted and the child was rescued in a healthy condition from the Kaiabazar area of Khulna around 10 PM and the accused Nayan was arrested.

He further said that the arrested person has been handed over to Fakirhat Model Police Station for further legal action.
