Tree plantation programmes launched in Natore, Rajbari  

The Road and Highway Department (RHD) has launched tree plantation programmes in different districts including Natore and Rajbari as part of the government's election commitment to plant 25 crore saplings in five years.

NATORE: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Asma Shahin formally inaugurated the programme on Wednesday at a roadside area along the Bogra-Natore road in the town.
  
Around 50,000 saplings will be planted on both sides of a 22-kilometre stretch of the road during the current season. 
 
Speaking at the event, DC Asma Shahin said tree plantation is essential to tackling the challenges of climate change.  

She called on everyone to come forward and plant trees on their own initiative alongside government efforts.  

Among others present were Md. Abul Hyat, ADC (General); Quamrul Hasan Sarker, Executive Engineer of DRH; and Iqbal Hossain, Executive Engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department.  

Executive Engineer Quamrul Hasan Sarker informed that 50,000 saplings will be planted along both sides of the 22-kilometre road under RHD Natore. The initiative will be gradually expanded, he added.

RAJBARI: The tree plantation programme was inaugurated on Wednesday on the Daulatdia-Faridpur highway, initiated by the Rajbari District RHD.

The tree plantation programme was inaugurated by Rajbari DC Sultana Akter.

Among those present on the occasion were Kumarish Biswas, Executive Engineer of Rajbari RHD; Sathi Das, Goalanda UNO; and Mominul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Goalanda Police Station.

Speakers at the event said that through tree plantation, the area's roads and highways will be covered in greenery and filled with natural beauty.
 
They further said, it is everyone's responsibility to nurture the trees with great care and help them grow, so that citizens may breathe pure, life-giving air for the welfare of the country and the nation.
