Amjanatar Dal Member Secretary Tarek Rahman has alleged that outgoing interim government Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus was among the instigators of the "1/11" political episode and raised questions over his legal accountability on multiple counts.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Tarek Rahman questioned whether justice would be ensured over what he described as "the 1/11 conspiracy, illegal foreign contracts, tax evasion and numerous illegal benefits" involving Professor Yunus.

"Dr Yunus was one of the instigators of the 1/11 incident," he wrote, adding, "When he saw that he had to take responsibility, he did not do so. When I came in '24, my dream was to be in power for 10 years, at least until '29."

The Amjanatar Party leader further alleged that political manoeuvring is underway ahead of the 13th National Parliament elections. "Political parties are sweating to get the 13th national election from the interim government," he said.

Referring to electoral dynamics, he claimed, "If the Awami League participated in the election and there were no rebel candidates in the BNP, you would understand how many seats Jamaat and NCP would get."

He added, "Most people in this country believe that the BNP has given up seats to the Jamaat Ameer and NCP Ameer."

Citing remarks attributed to leaders of Jamaat, the National Citizen Party and a former adviser, he said, "They said there will be no elections in February. Shafiqur Rahman Masud said at a Jamaat programme that they will not allow elections. A former adviser said they did not take responsibility to transfer power from one party to another."

He also claimed that statements were made in favour of extending Professor Yunus's tenure. "He said that he wanted to see Yunus for five years. Such remarks, he alleged, were made by Dr Yunus at different times."

The Amjanatar Party leader further stated, "The web of conspiracy against Bangladesh that was woven by the Razakars and their successors has been shattered by the efforts of the people."

Raising legal concerns, he reiterated, "Will justice be ensured for Yunus's alleged role in the 1/11 conspiracy, illegal foreign contracts, tax evasion and numerous illegal benefits?"

He also called for legal action in a separate allegation, stating, "At least for the death of a child in the measles vaccine fraud, Dr Yunus and his close associate Nurjahan should be brought under the law," he said.
