State Minister for Water Resources Farhad Hossain Azad has said the government is working to ensure an uninterrupted supply of diesel and electricity to support farmers engaged in jute, paddy and maize cultivation.

He made the remarks while responding to journalists' questions at the Faridpur Water Development Board rest house on Friday noon.

“The government remains active to ensure that farmers receive uninterrupted diesel and electricity,” he said.

Referring to the global situation, the state minister noted that many countries are currently facing an energy crisis and fuel prices have increased worldwide. “So far, the government has not increased fuel prices and is continuing efforts to maintain supply,” he added.

He also warned that some unscrupulous traders may attempt to create artificial shortages amid the hot weather and urged everyone to remain vigilant. He instructed local administration to strictly monitor fuel distribution on a regular basis.

Highlighting local issues, Farhad Hossain Azad said the government will undertake stronger measures in the coming days to prevent river erosion in Faridpur to protect people's property.

He reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption in all development activities.

Among those present were MPs from Faridpur-4 and Faridpur-3 constituencies Shahidul Islam Babul and Nayab Yusuf Ahmed, respectively, along with senior officials of the Water Development Board and district administration, including Chief Engineer Shahjahan Siraj, Superintending Engineer Sultan Mahmud, Deputy Commissioner Md Kamrul Hasan Molla and Superintendent of Police Nazrul Islam.
