The High Court on Monday granted bail to renowned baul singer Maharaj Abul Sarkar in a case filed on charges of hurting religious sentiments.
At the same time, the court issued a rule asking why Abul Sarkar will not be granted permanent bail.
An HC bench of Justice Atowar Rahman and Justice Sagir Hossain passed this order.
Sarkar was arrested in Madaripur on November 20 last year by the Detective Branch (DB) of the police in connection with the case. Later he was produced before the Manikganj Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, where the judge ordered to send him to jail.
