PABNA, Apr 7: The 95th birth anniversary of Suchitra Sen was observed at the ancestral home of the great heroine Suchitra Sen.
On Monday afternoon, at the actress's ancestral home in Hemsagar Lane of Gopalpur Mahalla of the district town, Pabna Suchitra Sen Memorial Preservation Council and local cultural workers laid wreaths at the mural of Suchitra Sen and cut a cake to pay tribute. Later, a discussion meeting was held.
Suchitra Sen Memorial Preservation Council Acting President Dr. Ram Dulal Bhowmik presided over the event and General Secretary Dr. Naresh Madhu moderated the birth anniversary of Suchitra Sen.
Spokesmen said, after 5th August Suchitra Sen Student Dormitory of Pabna Edward College was changed. Speakers at the meeting demanded that the name of the Chhatdari Dormitory be changed to Suchitra Sen Student Dormitory.
Former president of Pabna Press Club and Executive Member of Suchitra Sen Memorial Preservation Council ABM Fazlur Rahman, Adviser of Suchitra Sen Memorial Preservation Council agriculturalist Zafar Sadek, Publicity Secretary Fazlul Haque Suman, Office Secretary Shishir Islam and Kaniz Fatema spoke at the event. Among others present were retired assistant headmaster of Pabna District School Arup Kumar Kundu, former banker Sudarshan Talukder, district representative of Kaler Kantho Pabir Saha, cultural activist Hasan Mahmud, district representative of Ekhon TV Masud Rana, Sabera Sultana, Fazlul Haque Suman and others.
