Journos urged to play positive role in dev programmes 

 
GAIBANDHA, Apr 10: Speakers at a function here urged the journalists to play positive role to make development programmes successful that are being implemented here with the financial support of UNFPA. 

"As the newspaper is called the fourth pillar of a state so the journalists and reporters involved in the newspapers being stakeholders of the society could help the concerned of the programmes run the programmes peacefully and successfully in project command areas through proving their valuable opinions and advices," they also said. 

They came up with the comments while they were addressing a briefing session on the programmes that were being implemented in the district with the financial support of UNFPA. 

The session was held in the conference room of Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK), a local non-government development organisation located in Nashratpur area under Sadar Upazila in the district on Wednesday evening. 

Gulalake Soltanova, Chief Communication Officer of UNFPA Bangladesh and Dr. Muhammad Munir Hossain, programme analyst- Adolescents and youth briefed the journalists about the on-going programmes that are being implemented here with the financial support of UNFPA.

After an elaborate discussion on the project's impact on youth and public health, the UNFPA representatives sought the whole-hearted cooperation of the media personnel to ensure the initiatives run smoothly and achieve grand success.

A large number of journalists from both print and electronic media attended the function, engaging in a dialogue on how to effectively highlight development milestones in the region.
