Prime Minister’s Adviser on Finance and Planning Dr Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir on Tuesday said all commitments outlined in the government’s manifesto will be implemented, stressing that there is “no scope for empty promises.”
He made these remarks while addressing a farmer card distribution program at the Goalanda Upazila Parishad premises, where farmers were brought under a pilot initiative aimed at strengthening agricultural support systems.
“Whatever promises we make will be fulfilled. Every commitment in our manifesto will be implemented,” the adviser said, adding that such a comprehensive service model for citizens is unprecedented not only in Bangladesh but also globally.
Highlighting the government’s performance, he said no previous administration had implemented so many public welfare programs within such a short time after assuming office.
Speaking at the ceremony, State Minister for Cultural Affairs and Rajbari-1 MP Ali Newaz Mahmud Khayem said a total of 1,036 farmers from Debgram union’s Tenapacha area have been listed under the pilot program. He termed the initiative a “transformative step” to eliminate fraud and discrimination faced by farmers.
Under the scheme, each farmer will receive a card enabling access to 10 types of benefits, aimed at bringing discipline to the sector and ensuring a supportive working environment, he added.
Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension in the district, Md Shahidul Islam, said the cards will be distributed to all listed beneficiaries within the next one to two days. On the inauguration day, 15 farmers formally received their cards.
The program was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Afroza Parvin and attended by local administration, law enforcement officials, and political leaders, among others.
