Dear Sir,
Article 43 of the Constitution of Bangladesh guarantees the privacy of our homes and correspondence. Yet, in the era of "Smart Bangladesh," our lives extend far beyond physical spaces into vast digital networks of personal data-NID records, mobile banking details, and biometric information. This data now forms the core of our identity, making privacy not just a legal issue but a fundamental human right.
Bangladesh must adopt a forward-looking legal approach. First, a fiduciary standard should ensure that data belongs to the individual, and any entity using it must act in the citizen's best interest. Second, individuals must have the right to human intervention in automated decisions that significantly affect their lives.
Strong data protection laws will not hinder innovation; they will build trust-the foundation of a sustainable digital economy. Protecting data is ultimately protecting human dignity in a digital age.
