11-party alliance announces nominees for reserved seats in Parliament

The 11-party alliance, led by Jamaat-e-Islami, has released its final list of nominees for the reserved women's seats in the National Parliament.

Of the 13 nominees, nine belong to Jamaat-e-Islami, two to the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), and one each to Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis and the Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (Jagpa).

The full list of nominees includes Jamaat's Women's Wing Secretary and Central Executive Council member Nurun Nisa Siddiqua, Central Executive Council member Marzia Begum, former president of the student wing Chhatra Sanstha and Central Executive Council member Sabikunnnahar Munni, Women's Jamaat Media and Publicity Secretary Nazmun Nahar Nilu, Sylhet Metropolitan Women's Jamaat Secretary Mahfuza Hannan, Bogura Regional Women's Jamaat Director Sajeda Samad, Chittagong North District Women's Jamaat Secretary Shamsunnahar Begum, central member of the Women's Rights Movement Mardia Momtaz, and Rokeyaa Begum �" mother of July uprising martyr Jabir Ibrahim. 

The two NCP nominees are joint convener Monira Sharmin and central joint member secretary Mahmuda Alam Mitu. 

Jagpa president Tasmia Pradhan and Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis representative Mahbuba Hakim complete the list.

The list was announced on Monday evening by Hamidur Rahman Azad, coordinator of the 11-party alliance and assistant secretary general of Jamaat-e-Islami, at a press briefing held at Jamaat's central office in Dhaka's Moghbazar. 

Also present were Jamaat assistant secretaries Abdul Halim and Ehsanul Mahbub Zubayer, Jagpa vice-president Rashed Pradhan, and Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis publicity secretary Hasan Junaid.
