One held with firearms in Pabna

PABNA, Apr 21: A team of the District Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested one person along with 4 firearms, 2 rounds of bullets and several firearm-making materials from the Madarbari area of Arifpur Hazir Haat in Pabna Sadar Upazila early Monday. Another person escaped at that time. 

The arrested Oli Hossain, 26, is the son of Roxel Sheikh of Hazir Haat area.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Anwar Zahid said at a press conference held at the SP office on Monday afternoon that a team of DB police under the Supervision of Additional SP (Crime and Ops) Rezinur Rahman and DB Officer-in-Charge Rashidul Islam conducted a raid in the said area and arrested Oli Hossain but a person named Shuvo Fakir, 25, fled at that time. Later, as per Oli's confession, a raid was conducted at Shuvo Fakir's house in the Arifpur area, and 3 foreign-made revolvers and 1 domestically made single-barrel gun, 2 rounds of revolver bullets, and several firearm-making materials were recovered.
 
The absconding Shuvo Fakir is the son of Saidul Islam Fakir of Purbapara and an accused in a theft case and the arrested Oli Hossain is an accused in a drug case, the police said.
