Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman on Friday at a function in Jashore said the Bangladesh Nationalist Party remained committed to implementing the July Charter though some parts of the July Charter have been resorted to deception.
"Many are saying that BNP is denying the July Charter. However, BNP holds the July Charter in its veins. Some parts of the July Charter have been resorted to deception. BNP will fulfil the promise it made regarding the July Charter to the letter," he added.
He made this remarks while speaking at the inauguration and exchange of views programme at the newly constructed building of the District Bar Association in Jashore.
Referring to a debate surrounding legal and institutional reforms, he said questions had been raised regarding the July Charter, the Human Rights Commission, judicial independence and the Judicial Secretariat Act, adding that each matter would undergo legislative scrutiny before being placed before parliament.
"Each law will be scrutinised and brought to parliament in the form of a bill," he maintained.
On judicial reform, he said the issue of independence of the judiciary was often raised citing the Mazdar Hossain precedent, but maintained that reforms should not reproduce systemic corruption.
"The independence of the judiciary is being talked about using the example of Masdar Hossain. We do not want to build a corrupt judiciary like Maadar Hossain. We want to uproot all the corruption in the judiciary," he further said.
Anindya Islam Amit and Nargis Begum spoke as special guests at the discussion, presided over by District Bar Association President Syed Saberul Haque Sabu.
Earlier, the law minister visited the grave of former minister and BNP Standing Committee member Tariqul Islam at the city's Karbala graveyard and later visited the old District Judge's Court.
