The Bangladesh Athletics Federation on Saturday launched its official website and unveiled a comprehensive 'Safeguarding Policy' at a press conference at the conference room of the National Stadium, Dhaka on Saturday.

Federation President Major General (Retd.) Dr Md Naim Ashfaq Chowdhury presided over the unveiling programme, while General Secretary Md Shah Alam and a number of prominent national athletes and sports personalities were also present.

The newly launched website is expected to serve as a central digital platform for athletics in the country. As the officials sais, the site will provide access to a nationwide athlete database, records of national and international competitions, historical archives featuring former distinguished athletes, and an updated events calendar.

The platform will also facilitate online registration and offer training materials, bringing the federation's activities under a unified and accessible system.

Alongside the digital initiative, the federation introduced its 'Safeguarding Policy', a structured guideline aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of athletes.

The policy outlines measures to prevent harassment, abuse, and misconduct within the sporting environment, while also establishing clear codes of conduct for coaches and officials.

It further includes provisions for confidential reporting, investigation procedures, awareness programmes, and special protections for young and vulnerable athletes. Officials believe the initiative will strengthen accountability and promote a safer sporting culture across all levels.

The introduction of safeguarding measures is seen as a timely step, as global sport increasingly places emphasis not only on performance but also on athlete welfare and ethical governance.

With the launch of the website and the unveiling of the policy, the federation has taken a notable step towards modernisation and institutional development, aiming to align Bangladesh athletics with international standards.
