Two sisters drown in Noakhali pond

NOAKHALI, Apr 26: Two sisters drowned while bathing in a pond in Ward No. 6 of Dakkhin Charclerk Village of Charclerk Union in Subarnachar Upazila of the district on Sunday morning.

The deceased were Roksana Akhter, 9, and Afsana Akhter, 5, daughters of farmer Mohi Uddin of Gangchil Village in Companiganj Upazila of Noakhali and students of class one of a local madrasa.

According to local sources, the two sisters lived with their parents in their maternal grandmother's house. 

They went to bathe in the farm pond next to the house without the knowledge of the family members. At one stage, they drowned in the water.
