Gold price drops by Tk2,158 per bhori

The price of gold in the country has been reduced again by Tk 2,158 per bhori, according to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).

With the latest adjustment, the price of 22-carat gold, the highest quality, has been set at Tk 240,337 per bhori (11.664 grams).

The decision was taken at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring on Thursday morning, said a notification signed by committee chairman Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen.

BAJUS said the price has been reduced following a decline in the price of pure gold in the local market. The new rates came into effect from 10:00 AM on Thursday.

According to the revised prices, 21-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 2,041 to Tk 229,431 per bhori, while 18-carat gold has been cut by Tk 1,750 to Tk 196,655.

The revised prices have reduced the price of traditional method gold by Tk 1,458 to Tk 160,147 per bhori.

However, the price of silver remains unchanged. The price of 22-carat silver stands at Tk 5,482 per bhori, while 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional silver are priced at Tk 5,190, Tk 4,491 and Tk 3,383, respectively.

Earlier on Wednesday, the price of 22-carat gold was reduced by Tk 2,216 to Tk 242,495 per bhori.
