Man held with tapentadol tablets in Jashore

Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) arrested a man along with 6,200 pieces of Tapentadol tablets during an anti-narcotics drive in Jashore district on Saturday morning.

The arrested was identified as Robiul Islam, a resident of Chopdarpara area under Shankarpur in Jashore municipality.

According to DNC officials, the operation was carried out in the Monohorpur Bazar area under Kotwali Model Police Station. During the drive, officials recovered 5,000 Tapentadol tablets from a passenger bus on the Jashore�"Magura highway.

Later the same day at around 11:00 AM, another 1,200 tablets were recovered from the suspect’s residence, bringing the total seizure to 6,200 tablets.

Officials also seized a mobile phone and a bus ticket used in the incident.

Following the recovery, DNC deputy-inspector Madan Mohan Saha filed a case under the Narcotics Control Act with Kotwali Model Police Station.

Legal proceedings are underway, said officials.
