

Kazi Imdadul Haque, a recently retired tax commissioner of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), researcher and writer, has been appointed as the Director General of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) on a contractual basis with the rank of Secretary. He joined BSTI as Director General on Sunday (May 3), says a press release.
Kazi Imdadul Haque, a member of the 7th BCS (Tax) cadre, played an important role in developing the country's economic and administrative structure as the former President of the Taxes Appellate Tribunal and a former Tax Commissioner of the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
Since joining the civil service in 1988, he has left his mark of expertise and talent at various important levels of tax administration. Especially during his tenure as Tax Commissioner in NBR and Additional Commissioner in Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU), his contribution to domestic resource mobilization was notable. He ensured effective representation of Bangladesh in the global arena regarding international tax policy and Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA). In addition, from 2001 to 2004, he served as Private Secretary to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications with great efficiency.
During his academic career, he secured first place in the first class in M.Sc. from the Department of Soil, Water and Environment, University of Dhaka.
