Knee-deep water has logged the surrounding ramp area of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway. Authorities have urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel.
Continuous heavy rainfall has caused submerged various parts of Airport Road, including Kakoli, Banani, and Khilkhet.
As a result, vehicular movement has slowed down, creating long traffic jams. Office-goers, students, and people out for urgent needs are facing extreme suffering after being stuck on the roads for hours.
Moreover, vehicles descending from the Banani ramp of the Elevated Expressway are merging with the slow-moving traffic on the lower road. Many vehicles are moving slowly as rainwater has accumulated surrounding areas of the ramp.
This has caused vehicles to get stuck one after another, creating a long tailback. Under such circumstances, the Gulshan Traffic Division of the police has urged people to avoid unnecessary travel.
The Gulshan Division of Traffic Police posted a warning notice on their Facebook page around 11:00 AM regarding the situation. The notice stated that continuous heavy rainfall caused extensive waterlogging in various low-lying areas of the capital, including the lower part of the Banani ramp of the Elevated Expressway and Khilkhet.
Due to this, vehicular movement on the relevant roads remains slow and traffic jams have formed in several places.
The notice also mentioned that vehicles descending from the Elevated Expressway at Kakoli intersection and vehicles using the lower road must move with extra caution.
