Charge framing deferred against Tulip in corruption case

A Dhaka court on Wednesday deferred the charge-framing hearing in a corruption case against Tulip Rizwana Siddiq and former RAJUK assistant legal adviser Sardar Mosharraf Hossain to June 28.

Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun of Special Judge Court-5 rescheduled the hearing due to a heavy caseload, said ACC lawyer Mir Ahmed Ali Salam.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) alleges the accused acquired a flat in Gulshan-2 without payment through abuse of power.

The court had earlier taken cognisance of the chargesheet on February 18 and issued arrest warrants as the accused were absent.

The ACC filed the case on April 15 last year, accusing them of unlawfully taking possession of and registering a flat owned by Eastern Housing Limited. The chargesheet was submitted on December 11 under relevant sections of the Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
