Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman has said that a judge must always exercise judicial power independently in his thoughts and conscience.

He urged the judges to make the right decisions.

The law minister said these while addressing the inaugural function of the 20th Orientation Course for Additional District and Sessions Judges at the Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) complex in the capital on Saturday morning.

He said the government wants that the people’s confidence on judges to grow stronger.

''The people have given us the mandate...You will always find the government beside you for the sake of establishing justice in society.''

The minister also said any form of corruption would not be tolerated and urged judges to remain vigilant in this regard.

''If we fail to do so, then the struggle to move this institution forward and the long-standing efforts we all made together to create a field of justice for the people of Bangladesh will not be achieved. The rule of law and human rights will also fail.''

''We do not want that our next generation has to carry the burden of our failure in future,'' Md Asaduzzaman added.
