A collision between a bus and a truck on the Jamuna Bridge left at least eight to ten people injured and caused a massive traffic gridlock on Saturday.

The accident occurred near pillar number 13 at around  11:30 AM, halting North Bengal-bound traffic for nearly two hours.

Witnesses and police sources reported that a Bogura-bound bus from Rani Paribahan rammed into the back of a truck while crossing the bridge. The impact severely damaged the front of the bus and the rear of the truck.

The crash led to a complete standstill on the North Bengal-bound lane, leaving hundreds of vehicles, stranded in the sweltering heat.

While eight to ten individuals sustained injuries, no fatalities were reported. The identities of the injured have not yet been confirmed.

Jamuna Bridge West Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Aminul Islam stated that police and bridge authorities responded quickly to the scene, removed the damaged vehicles from the bridge and traffic flow returned to normal around 1:30 PM.
