The Education Malaysia Global Services Study in Malaysia Expo Bangladesh 2026 has generated significant interest among Bangladeshi students exploring higher education opportunities abroad.
The two day event opened on May 8 at Hotel Sarina in Banani, Dhaka, drawing prospective students, parents and education professionals seeking direct engagement with Malaysian universities.
Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Mohd Shuhada Othman, formally inaugurated the expo in the presence of Moeen Uddin Ahmed Khan, Head of South Asia at EMGS, members of the Malaysian delegation and senior officials from the Malaysian High Commission.
Organised by Education Malaysia Global Services, an agency under Malaysia’s Ministry of Higher Education, the expo aims to connect Bangladeshi students with 12 leading Malaysian universities, including four public institutions.
Participating universities are showcasing academic pathways ranging from foundation and diploma programmes to bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral and post doctoral studies.
The Dhaka event marks the first stop of a multi city initiative designed to provide reliable, first hand information about Malaysian higher education. The expo will next travel to The Grand Riverview Hotel in Rajshahi on May 13 and The Peninsula Hotel in Chittagong on May 15.
For professionals considering postgraduate study, the expo highlights Malaysia’s expanding research ecosystem. Malaysian universities are promoting research driven master’s and PhD programmes, international supervision opportunities and industry linked projects aimed at producing high impact academic work.
Organisers also emphasised Malaysia’s family friendly policies, noting that eligible postgraduate students may apply to bring dependents. Combined with comparatively affordable tuition and living costs, flexible study options and strong industry connections, Malaysia is positioning itself as a practical destination for career advancement.
As part of the official visit, the Malaysian delegation is scheduled to hold a courtesy meeting with Bangladesh’s Education Minister on May 11 and participate in a Bangladesh Malaysia Higher Education Networking Session in collaboration with the University Grants Commission on May 18.
A separate high level networking event hosted by the Government of Malaysia will bring together vice chancellors and senior leaders from public and private universities of both countries.
Visitors to the expo are receiving guidance on admissions procedures, scholarship options, tuition structures and student visa processing managed by EMGS, along with information on student welfare services and career prospects.
With internationally recognised qualifications, competitive costs and a multicultural academic environment, Malaysia continues to strengthen its profile as a global education hub for Bangladeshi students.
