DU appoints Israfil Prang as acting proctor

Dhaka University (DU) has appointed Graphic Design Department Associate Professor Md Israfil Prang as the acting proctor of the university with immediate effect.

The appointment was confirmed through an office order issued on Sunday by Acting Registrar Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed.

According to the order, Prang will discharge his responsibilities under the existing rules and regulations of the university and receive allowances and other benefits applicable to the post.

As per the notice, the appointment could be revoked at any time in the interest of the institution.

This development came hours after former Proctor Professor Saifuddin Ahmed resigned from the position, citing personal reasons.

The administrative change also followed renewed concerns over campus security after a knife-point robbery incident near the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) area on Sunday.
