9 arrested with 4,000 liters of smuggled diesel in Ctg

Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) arrested nine suspected smugglers and seized 4,000 liters of diesel during a drive on the Karnaphuli River in Chattogram city.

Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan, the BCG Media Officer, confirmed the operation on Monday morning. 

Acting on a tip-off, Coast Guard personnel conducted a drive at Danggarchar area near the Diamond Cement Factory, under the jurisdiction of  Karnaphuli Police Station.

During the drive, the suspects were caught red-handed while smuggling fuel from the Chittagong Port Authority vessel Kandari-06 into a tanker named O.T. Aju Shah.

The Coast Guard official stated that the seized diesel has been handed over to the Chittagong Port authority. 

He further emphasized that the BCG remains committed to conducting similar operations in the future to curb illegal oil storage and smuggling activities.
